Meet the Mint

Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes that creates your beautiful minted Silver medallions? Take a rare sneak peek at what takes place behind closed doors at the AOCS Mint!

First, raw silver shows up from the refineries in round planchettes or "blanks" as they're known to us. Each blank is carefully inspected for weight and purity.

The blanks must go through a complicated process of cleaning and polishing before they are ready to be struck. The blanks are bathed in a solution of soap and tiny stainless steel beads.

As the blanks are being prepared for minting, a great deal of attention is given to the set of dies that will be used to strike the silver blanks.
Each die, both front and back, is professionally polished to give the final minted pieces their mirror-like finish. The dies must be repolished after striking only 100 coins.

Once the dies and installed into a heavy machine press,

the polished blanks are hand-fed into the press .
To produce the stunning high relief 3d results, each coin is stamped up to 5 times! Each minted medallion is inspected by gloved hand to ensure its quality is on par with what our discerning investors expect of our product.

Every so often, a medallion does not measure up to our standard of excellence, and it is added to our "melt" bucket.

Once the medallions are minted, each order is carefully inspected and packed, ensuring that you receive the correct amount and type of medallions in "mint" condition!
